When I first chose and decided to help end child early and forced marriages in Tanzania especially among girls in Longido District, in Northern Tanzania; it was rather difficult to make the changes immediately but as a resilient educator I knew this will one day be possible.
Based on the values of the Organization that I founded Peace is a very important value and is within a program that I developed in 2008 called Girls Improvement Program In Education Development (GIPiED) and a strategy called ‘Together We Succeed’ a very peaceful, unique, inclusive and participatory process.
I started training girls and women in my community on the need to understand their self worth. This saw girls speak about their problems and came to me to help them get safe shelter/ space. I encouraged them gave them my support and put them back to school and this year one of the girls is completing her college
Although it has not been an easy journey, this year I managed to get a piece of land and on it today is an incomplete building and structure for the same (Safe Shelter) which I hope to complete with availability of resources. I am determined to find a safe space for them for I know this will ensure them get quality education and protection to positively transform their future/ lives.

Thanks a lot Beth. The journey to securing it was not an easy one. There is a lot that needs to be done to complete the Rescue Shelter but again my challenge is raising funds.
Thanks a lot and you could join me to support in this course.

Dear Rosemary,
As I read your story here of the work you are doing and the calm, loving energy you have been pouring into it, I was so moved. Moved by your commitment and by your ability to make this happen for girls in your country. This is the grassroots work that changes lives, and changes what we have been taught is the only way. How wonderful to know that you have reached many girls with your message of the right to education, freedom and peaceful societal change. What a celebration that you are witnessing one of the girls attending college, and that you now have land. This is the work of a true change maker. Congratulations and best wishes with all you are doing.
With love in sisterhood,
Tam
Dear Tam,
Am very happy to reconnect. it's been a while. Thanks a lot for the encouragement. It's not been an easy journey. Am yet to find financial resources to complete the Shelter and that's the biggest challenge I have right now.
Again, thanks a lot.
Very warm regards,
Rosemary
Thank you for sharing your work. I love the name of your strategy- "Together We Succeed!" I am also very moved by your story of giving girls a safe shelter/space to escape child marriage and be able to go to school and be able to support themselves. Kudos to your on one of your girls (now a young woman I imagine) graduating college this year. What an inspiring story.
Dear Maya,
Am very grateful. I appreciate so much what you mentioned. Yes, our "Together we succeed" strategy gives me the hope that when we work together towards the same goal we will succeed. I hope raise finances to complete the Shelter. Without which girls problems and lack of access to Education will continue to exist.
Thanks a lot and warm regards,
Rosemary.
