Safety in Last Mile Connectivity in Public Transport

Monica Jasuja hosted a tweetchat on the 20th of October discussingsafety in public transport. With public transport being the preferred choice for most women in several cities of our country, it is important to discuss how we can make these public utilities safer for women.

The first question posed to our followers was ‘How do you commute to the pickup point to a ride in public transport?’The question then went on to whether ourfollowers felt safe using these methods to travel to the pickup/drop off points. We asked our followers if they had ever faced harassment in last mile connectivity.

When askedto share their top safety tips, these emerged: 1. Walk confidently. 2. Avoid poorly lit by lanes. 3. Always inform someone of your location. 4. Use your vocal chords – don’t be silent!
