On Friday 17th August, Citizens for Justice and Peace @cjpindia conducted a tweetchat on Mob Injustice and Addressing Dissent .

The chat began by first asking the audience for their views on the reasons for the recent spike in lynching incidents across India and what could be done to stop them. The audience shared their thoughts on why it is important to #FightTheMob and what they could do in their capacity as individual citizens to #FightTheMob. The curator asked the participants about the consequences to dissenters being silenced in India and whether hate crimes are being legitimised today. The chat ended by stressing on the importance of expressing dissent in a healthy and legal way and ways to safeguard one’s right to dissent.

Hi Safecity,

Thanks for sharing this tweetchat. That certainly is disturbing that there has been an influx of lynching. I hope people start speaking up so it can be resolved quickly.

Engaging discussion by people through tweet chat is brilliant. I am glad to know about #FightTheMob. Without strong and wise government and police leadership people can get caught up in such vicious behaviour. Creating community discussion is such an important contribution toward moving in the direction of peace and justice.
