Addressing the Journalism Gender Gap; Bringing Environmental News Front & Centre

On 5th Oct, Raakhee Suryaprakash @10sunshinegal conducted a tweetchat combining two topics- “Addressing the Journalism Gender Gap and Bringing Environmental News Front & Centre.”

The first half of the chat focused on the prevalent gender gap in journalism, the reasons for it, ways in which the gender gap can be bridged and whether bridging the divide can help improve quality & diversity of news and perspectives.

The second half of the chat focused on not just including environmental news in journalistic media but bringing it front and centre. The participants shared their thoughts on why environmental news doesn’t make it to the front page unless there is a natural disaster or crisis. The chat ended by asking the participants for suggestions on ways to raise the profile of environmental news and climate reporting & bring them to the front page
