Introducing myself and my journal: A Voice

About Me:
Samia Ahmed

an activist from Sudan, currently associated with the Sudanese Women Empowerment for Peace and the Nile Peace Voyage Sudanese Youth Peace Initiative. I am also a member of the Women Waging Peace Network of international women peacebuilders and Women’s Democracy Network.

I have worked with many organizations on national, regional and African levels in the areas of human security and peacebuilding. I have actively worked to build coalitions and networks of civil society organizations in Sudan and abroad. I have knowledge in human rights practices, varied approaches in dealing with social conflicts, crosslines work, advocacy and campaign building.

I was trained in conflict resolution and analysis, but believes that deeper examination of community methodologies should be considered and involved in the peace process. I believe that empowering women, children and youth in conflict-torn societies is the key to achieving ownership and effective participation towards positive social transformation.
