Spirit of Sisterhood

Our story begins even before we met face to face...we were college fellows but never knew about each other until the day I was taken by a colleague to meet Zulekha in her office for a Job opportunity. She gave me a job going against the management because she knew that I desperately needed one. She is one in a million, she was a boss, the kind friend in need, the sister that every one wants and the hard task master who gets the work done. She was a shoulder to cry on, the first one to lift everyone around her, monetarily, emotionally and in a million other ways. When our organization packed up and a dozen were left without jobs she invested money from a loan and set up a space for us to start earning. But the girls let her down but she never lost hope. Always encouraging and ready to help out she kept me in whatever project she signed on. If I didnt fit the job description she kept on supporting me while she worked. She is the spirit of human kind, she is the embodiment of love and encouragement, she uplifts all those around her. Constantly connecting the jobless with opportunities without any monetary gain. She has seen a very hard life but even in that she keeps on giving to the people around her. She started a Sustainable Life Skills program in the mountains for school going children on Sundays. Currently she is in the process of setting up  a Stitching Center for Women and Girls in the mountains to enable them to learn to earn. She embodies the spirit of the Ambassador, Encourager and Sisterhood. She is all this and more. I joined World Pulse to share Zulekhas story and let the world know what she means to me and countless women and children. If anyone deserves an award it is her.

This is her:
