Dear WP sisters and brothers,
Thank you so much for being with us and keeping Nepal and its people in your prayers as we face these dark days of disaster. I am sorry for not responding to many of your messages as I do not have regular internet access and when i do have, its for limited times.
For those who may not already know, a deadly earthquake of 7.9 Richter scale hit Nepal on 25th April around 11.56am, claiming more than 5000 lives, injuring some 7624 people and rendering hundreds of others homeless. It devastated the Dharahara tower (built in 1832), Kathmandu durbar square (a UNESC world heritage site), Basantapur durbar and several other temples and dewals of historical importance. Several big and small aftershocks have been confirmed since.
People are living outside in fear of the collapse of their houses, while many have become homeless. Pregnant women, newborn babies and children are forced to stay in cold open sky at night with their families. Continuous rain has aggravated the situation as people fear of losing the safe places to stay at night. The government aid has been slow and insufficient hence the need of crowdsourcing support. These families both in Kathmandu and districts hit hardest by the devastating effects of the earthquake are in dire need of support.
I personally request you to help Nepal in whatever way you can. Your help doesn’t need to be generous. Below are the links where you can directly extend your help:
