Introducing myself and my journal: Education and Empowerment for Young Women

My Passions:
women's empowerment, education, jewelry making, film making, photography, violin, backpacking

My Areas of Expertise:
women's empowerment, gender studies, development studies, refugee work

I am currently working in rural Northern India for women's education and empowerment. I have been fortunate enough to have this opportunity to learn and work with truly amazing women from India. Embracing rural life, I can easily call India home. We run projects that involve mircrofinance, health, education, and empowerment. I have even been able to use my personal hobbies, such as jewelry making, in my work. I have taught jewelry classes to the women here and they are keen on continue to learn and develop their skills so they can sell their work at our local store. This time here has given me some amazing learning experiences and given me direction in life. After completing my time here in the next year, I hope to get my PhD in Gender Studies and further work in development, with a focus on women's rights and gender based violence.
