Introducing myself and my journal: Metamorphosis

About Me:
I am a 40 year old woman, survivour, advocate, and community worker from Trinidad and Tobago. I experienced severe child sexual, emotional, and physical abuse which set me on a self destructive path. Today I use my voice, the internet and social media to make a difference and encourage primary prevention intervention and education.

Breaking the silence is not a popular choice it is the right choice, making a decision to help others and be a voice for the many silent victims is not an easy road and few want to help champion this cause. Of helping our daughters and sisters of helping women.

If by using the debris of my life I have helped one woman, one family or one community then what happned to me was not in vain.

My Passions:
The protection of children and women

My Challenges:
Lack of support in all areas; getting persons to understand the seriousness of abuse how it affects not only victims but families and the sociatal domino effect of abuse.

My Vision for the Future:
To have an educated nation, implementation of primary prevention strategies, a 24 hour rescue and training center for victims of abuse and their families.

My Areas of Expertise:
Victim Service Provider, Bystander Approach Teaching, Counseling, Rehabilitation, Motivational Speaking, Victim Support, Writing, Public Speaking
