Happy and Empower with Women
With Rural Women for Economic Empowerment

I was placed in one hospital for counselling work in the year 1998-99. That time one of my friend was admitted for HIV treatment. This episode has changed my life as person and professional.  I decided to work with PLWHA ( People Living with HIV/AIDS) to access their rights.

After that I worked with various marginalized groups such as sex workers and transgender groups. After this work experience,  I have decided to work for other marginalized groups such as Muslim Women & Community  and Single women in India.

In last 20-22 years I faced many challenges in field, but with support and trust of community and team I have handled all issues. The most challenging experience was working in riots for rehabilitation of marginalized people especially women and children.

Presently I am working with rural women for social and economic empowerment.

I have motivated number of women to live life with dignity and happily and connected them to each other.

In working with women you find your strength, that is so positive and empowering. Would like to know about the challenges you faced and how they led to learning. Best wishes...

Hello Shilpa,
I am so glad to find out about your work, all of it so important, and work that many would not find their way to do. Your story shows such a beautiful progression of choices led by your heart. It is people most in need of justice and support that need to be the priority, and you show here how well our hearts can lead the way.

In sisterhood,
Tam
