CERD Report Geneva 2011

Hi

I thought I would put these links here for Global Women to have an over standing of the issues affecting us n the UK, to also support the cause and affect perspective i posted before.
Regards kenya

forward from CERD
UK NGOs Against Racism is now back from Geneva having taken part in the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination's examination of the UK Government. By presenting our evidence to the Committee and working together to lobby effectively, we successfully managed to influence the questions that the Committee asked the government.

Now we have to wait and see what the UN's response will be. They will publish their recommendations to the Government, called Concluding Observations, on 2nd September on this website: http://www2.ohchr.org/english/bodies/cerd/cerds79.htm

I'd also like to draw your attention to the fact that the letter that many of you signed calling for stronger leadership from the government on race equality, was published online on the 'race issues' page in the Guardian last Sunday. Here's the link: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/aug/21/government-lack-leadership-r...

Best wishes,

Klara
