When will the change happen?

The sky is darkened and so is the air suffocating whether we walk through the destroyed and demolished lanes of Syria, or through the forests of Africa, whether on the open streets of a democratic nation like India or in valleys of the self inflicted part of Kashmir or any other area, humanity is being slayed and murdered every minute.

While the whole incident of Kathua , took place  sometime in January, the news leaked out through media only in the last few days ,possibly after being covered by an international news agency.. Words die in shame while talking about the incident when a 8 year old girl was gangraped for 8 days and kept in a temple only to be killed after that.

Without going into the details of this heinous crime , another one had shaken the country, in Unnao where the victim's father was also killed while protesting .

What progress do we talk about when , we do not have the conscience of being a human and valuing humanity?

While in a conversation in a Closed User Group, where there are people from govt, politics, administration, cultural sector, IT, law and many more,a question was raised - Nirbhaya and then Rapes continue... Nirbhaya was the highest or loudest heard issue in our country .post that Nirbhaya funds got created. Thousands of crores spent and yet to be spent on women safety and protection. yet rapes, torture and killings continue..

When will the change happen?

I feel most importantly then :

1. When we educate our children whether they are girls or boys. 2.Change the mindset of individuals right from every home  3. Precautions and safety measures like self defence to be made compulsory for all school going children from the age of five. 4.Value humanity and respect humans. 5. Wipe the hatred of discrimination, anger, jealousy, greed amongst people specially caste and religion. 6.Introspect their own conscience. 7. With power and money comes crime handy. Power of politics, power of position , or of money, or of certain things ,these need to be addressed not only by government but by people themselves.

For government to play their role, it is a long way before rules get implemented ,

  • Let them get hand in hand with apps like Sayfty ,Safecity and many more which are ready to provide data about the sensitive places to prevent crime
  • Let them make rules so that hence forth any hand that goes beyond the limits of humanity gets amputated and crushed.
  • Let them instill the fear in minds of these sickened people that a wrong thought and their life will end forever..

Rest nothing can change the shock and loss of the bereaved ones, but few efforts can change lives of the ones living around us.

LET US PLAY OUR ROLES WITH CONFIDENCE, POWER,CONVICTION, AWARENESS AND RESPONSIBILITY TO CREATE THE NEXT GENERATION WITH MORAL VALUES AND HUMANITY.

Hi Soumya, it is sad that these things still happen in a so called modern society, but with voices like yours and many other women globally making their voice heard, no matter how long it takes, things will eventually change somehow.... i choose to believe that our collective voices will be heard and something will be done for safer cities where women and girls, and even boys are not afraid to walk. Thank you for sharing and making your voice heard.
Lots of love.
Terry

Hi Terry,
Thank you for joining in here to support for the cause . It is disheartening and shameful to see such things happening where they shock us every new day with the heinous acts. Where we intend to progress and work for growth of our society , this seems to be taking us backward. Hope voices when collective can compel the people in power to change thinsg accordingly.

Hi sis, I can feel your pain! But really the change that we desire is just around the corner immediately we decide to talk about the problems. I'm praying that God will touch the heart of the government to implement the right policy against sexual abuse, heal the wounds of the victims and help out Nations(people) to value and respect humanity. Keep been the

Hi Jlanghus,
True, while we are all trying to move forward with advancement and empowerment of many things, there are places, corners of the world, where still such barbaric acts take place and nothing can be done for it.

The rule of the law and fear should be instilled among the people like it is in countries like Dubai. You have offered very down to earth solutions to combat crime at a time we are living in a hate climate where everything whittles down to religion. The time is now and things are worsening by the day.

I know Vishal these are very normal and ground to earth solutions and hard hitting decisions are required to handle such situations, yet every change comes from home, society and cities and what minimum we can do is start from our efforts.
Its getting worser and more inhumane , with people like you we have the voice stronger against all these heinous things
Thanks

Dear Soumya,

Thanksfor writing on this touching and burning issue. Violence is just so horrible. The good news is that, there are people like you who can raise their voices and create an impact. Keep doing what you are doing

Dear Feka,
Yes, the extreme cases of violence and such type of crimes have always existed in corners and many parts of the world. The question is whether our raising voice changes anything or do we need to put more efforts from our side, for we can't wait and let the government take its own course of action with its own time. Better if we can put in our ways to handle and curb such things.

Dear Soumya,
I am fully with you for making this voice more louder and clearer. I am too angry with all these misogynous happenings in our society, country and world. Change will certainly happen, once we stop allowing any form of violence against girl and women at any cost. Be it mental, physical, economic and political. From our home to community to country and to world. as you say, lets us play our role with confident, power , conviction, awareness and reponsibility to create the next-generation with moral value and humanity. Lets start from ourselves and encourage everyone we can.
in solidarity, anjana
