IVAWA

Dear President Obama, First Lady, Secretary Clinton, Vice President Biden and all other members of the USA government and their spouses:

As I-VAWA voting approaches, I am writing to encourage you to pass this important legislation for the benefit of women everywhere.

When women and girls are starved, beaten, degraded, raped, burned with acid, married off as children or made to service men in sex and bondage, our minds go numb, our bodies break down and our self-esteem drains away until we are nothing but a bundle of hopeless and helpless nerves.Fear never ends.Anxiety is a constant companion. This isn't a way to live. This is a way to die.

I hear you say, "But that happens mostly in OTHER countries." I am a US citizen and it happened to me (and countless others) in the form of domestic violence. I was lucky. I got out alive. But that doesn't mean it ended. He stalked, threatened and haunted me for years. My children suffered both from my lack of any sense of self and his abuse.

Now, many years later, I am strong, happy and a productive citizen of the USA and the world. I work diligently for the peace of mind of women (and men) everywhere. I ask for your help and assistance by endorsing and signing I-VAWA!

When women's rights are human (and equal) rights, economies, governments, families and all other segments of societies flourish. Let's lead the way to sustainable freedom from violence for women and children everywhere.

Remind me why I am happy to be American - sign I-VAWA now!

Thank you.
