Another fantastic Session of digital empowerment with my sisters in Addis Ababa
Another fantastic Session of digital empowerment with my sisters in Addis Ababa (1/2)

I have had the experience of hosting a couple of living roomdigital changemaking sessions before now. Although i find the sessionsvery exciting each time, it does not come without a lot of preparations. Sometimes one can get too excited that he/she eventually losses the plot. A couple of things that i have learnt and put into practice in the course of facilitating my sessions are as follows;

- It is very important to have a clear agenda before you start.

- Know your stuff i.e prepare well before the training in order not to embarrassyourself in front of your audience.

- Always start with a self introduction of everyone present follow by prayer if youraudienceischristian

-An icebreaker is always a great idea to kickoff discussions, for me i always start with a songand half way through i introduce a PowerPoint presentation or a video. This to me reduces tension and lightens the atmosphere.

Most of all these sessions have taught me a great deal of leadership i.e being in control asin this case and learning that it really does get better with time.

Cheers

Great work! It's great to hear that digital changemaking workshops are happening in many places. Every session takes a life of it's own sometimes that helps the flow of the workshop.

I wish you luck with future workshops.

Best,

Dana

Dear Stelz,

it is true facilitating the sessions teaches us to be leaders

because participants assume that you know it all and sometimes entirely rely on you fro their information especially if the participants are barely literate.

Keep up the good work

Much love
