Dearest Sharon,

Thank you for your warm words! I really do love exploring new cultures and World Pulse is wonderfully rich in diversity and strong, courageous women that I can learn so much from! I also looked at your Thread of our Fabric blog and I absolutely adore your voice! It is so full of passion, zeal, and determination. I can't wait to learn more about you!

Best wishes, Sydney

Winnie, this made me smile so big! Thank you for teaching me new words - it truly makes me happy to learn! I too hope that some day I will be able to visit East Africa.

Your own organization is so inspiring and impressive! Have you considered posting to the Community-University Connection to help connect you with university student volunteers? I know that you are a member of the group...I would strongly encourage you to submit a proposal.

Hi Winnie!

The first step in the process is to post to the PulseWire Community-University Connection group.

  1. Click on this link: Community-University Connection Group
  2. Click on the tab "Contribute"
  3. Post a brief response to the following three questions:

1) What is a specific challenge facing your organization or community that you need to solve in order to be able to move forward with your vision? 2) What kind of expertise is needed to help you solve this challenge? 3) In what ways might a student, or team of students, be able to help?

After you've done this, I can help you continue with further steps...

Dear Sydney,

I am writing to you because I have read about your work with World Pulse. I thought you would be a good resource for a project I am researching. My name is Talya Morris, and I am an 8th grade student at the Emery/Weiner School in Houston, TX. I am working on a research project for my teacher, Mr. Benjamin Stern, in which I am examining the history of and possible solutions to the abuse Nigerian women face. I am writing you to request an interview with you, at your convenience, in which we discuss your experience researching/working with/living with/ etc the issue. The interview can be by email, over the phone, or over video chat. I would really appreciate your help. If you are willing, please let me or my teacher know so we can schedule a time and place that works for you.

Thank you very much,

Talya Morristmorris@emeryweiner.orgbstern@emeryweiner.org832-204-5900
