I carry your names in joy,I carry your stories and how we have met,This is a new ecstasy,This ancient dream,This ancient dream that we had before we were born,We are finally,Finally finding each other in this lifetime..”
from A Love Poem to my Sisters 2014
This year for International Women’s Day I will be travelling just a few hours to Ottawa, the capital of Canada. Ottawa is a small city, but women there do a good job of celebrating IWD. I will be bringing news of WorldPulse to the evening celebration where I have booked a table at the Information Fair, and where local feminists will host a show and give out awards to local active women. As this is the capital city, local, national and international groups will be together, a great opportunity for WorldPulse to become more widely known.
This is a continuation of my travels, finding ways to let women hereknow what we have together in WorldPulse. I will be making as many of your beautiful faces as possible visible on a background board I am putting together, and will be able to have WorldPulse showing continually on my computer. I plan to be full of stories. I am doing lots of reading and Encouraging these days leading up to the 8th. Showing your faces, describing stories and also describing how it is that our conversations have been happening directly with each other, our network expanding so beautifully and powerfully by all of the individual ways we use this site to find each other - this is what I find brings WorldPulse alive in my conversations. I have seen over and over the incredulous look, with the question behind it forever answered “Did you just tell me that women all over the world are already working together on all this? And that what is being done is in print to be found and known? And that I can write too?” I live for that moment when women realize that WorldPulse is not just “another website”, it is a unique home base for thousands of us developing connections being made constantly, and growing. This year for IWD I am hoping to be able to meet women here in Canada, already working locally, nationally and internationally, to bring them to WorldPulse, and to let others know how this strengthens every one of us, whether deep in activism, or writing our stories for the first time. I hope too that we can create more support from here for actions being taken by WorldPulse sisters in many countries, who can benefit from international support pressure on their Governments. I will be watching for timing of the Live Event on the 8th, and keep it showing wherever I am during that time. I am devoting this month to being back in touch online with everyone I have met travelling across Canada past 3 summers, and with my Canadian sisters who have already found WorldPulse. I envision such possibilities as we draw closer and make plans together.
Whenever I read a new story, whenever I Encourage or join a discussion formed in the beautiful trails of encouraging messages below the stories, I then carry that surge powerfully through the next while. I add to it every time I sit down to read a new story. Through Encouraging, and through the profound friendships that I have found through WorldPulse I also now never feel alone. So far from being alone. I know we are everywhere, and soon, this week, so will more of my Canadian sisters.
