Potential impact of corona virus on the lives and livelihood of women

The novel corona virus of 2019 impacted the livelihoods of women. The early closure of schools had a differential effect on women, who provide most of the informal care within families, with the consequence of limiting their work and economic opportunities. Travel restrictions cause financial challenges especially to cross border traders. The quarantine may affect the women’s access to physical, cultural security and sanitary needs. COVID 19 may lead to inadequate access to health care and insufficient financial resources to cater for the needs of both women and children, despite women doing most of the community vector control activities.

Let us ensure no girl or woman is left behind in these devastating times

Dear Tatenda,
It is so important that we know how each other is during this pandemic, to know what is happening and what we see needs to happen. It is so good to read your strong voice on what needs to be in place to make sure girls and women in your country are not ignored. Stay safe, sister and stay in touch as you can.

Hello Tatenda,
Great piece you sent in here. There could never be a better time to ask for an all-inclusive living than now. Your call humanitarian actions to be taken in equal terms in all facets of life is very apt, given the current ugly times we are faced with. Thank you for sharing. Hoping to read more from you, dear.
Love,
Florence Kekong
