Help Nigerian Teacher Uche Linda Okpala Get Healthy$5,000 goal

Jordan Belmonte is organizing this fundraise

Medical, Illness & Healing

Uche Linda Okpala is an innovative Nigerian high school teacher dedicated to transforming the lives of her students and promoting digital literacy in her country.  Through the creative use of technology Uche has connected her students with hundreds of youth from around the globe and taken them on amazing virtual field trips!  Her classroom is a safe space where her students can grow and gain the 21st century skills needed to be internationally competitive. Uche is a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, change maker, Digital ambassador and has received numerous other professional certifications and awards recognizing her commitment to innovation in teaching & learning; including the 2019 Global Teacher Award from Alert, Knowledge and Success, New Delhi.

Uche is a caring woman who selflessly serves her community and can always be found with a truly infectious smile.  Unfortunately recently Uche's smile has been dimmed as she continues to battle serious heath concerns. Four years ago she was diagnosed with intramural noncancerous multiple uterine fibroid tumors (myomas).  Over the past 3 years Uche has undergone myomectomy operations (surgical removal of the tumors) twice in an attempt to regain her health.  Despite these surgeries the fibroid tumor has regrown again at the back of her uterine wall causing a number of complications that impact Uche's everyday life and her ability to support herself and her students. The complications so far include:

* Weekly bleeding episodes resulting in acute anemia. * Limited mobility - The position of the tumor severely limits Uche's mobility, standing upright and walking are especially painful for her. * Pain  - The hard tumor exerts significant pressure in the pelvic area leading to persistent pain and discomfort.  After extensive research and numerous visits to Obstetrics and Gynecological Specialists Uche has received a treatment plan to reduce the tumors that is considered highly effective.  The procedure is called Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE).  This procedure uses a form of real-time x-ray called fluoroscopy to guide the delivery of embolic agents to the uterus and fibroids. These agents block the arteries that provide blood to the fibroids and cause them to shrink.  On average the procedure shrinks tumors to half their original volume and most importantly softens them which can greatly reduce pelvic pressure. While the procedure is minimally invasive compared to her previous surgery it is still a serious in-patient procedure that could potentially require general anesthesia. Uche needs help financing her treatment including: the procedure, hospital admission, anesthesiologist, and recuperation care.  After consultation with the healthcare finance officer at NISA Premier Hospital Abuja in total the cost to complete this treatment is estimated at 1.9 million naira or $5,000 USD.   I would love to see Uche's smile back on her face but need your help! While her energy and enthusiasm for education are an inspiration, these health concerns have sapped her strength and she needs help from the global community she serves.  On behalf of Uche's friends, family and community we are asking for any size donation that will help to get Uche back on her feet so future generations of students can benefit from her care and innovation! If you are unable to donate but still want to help please share this post, the more eyes on this the better.  Thank you so much.

Dear Uche,
I am saddened by your story of pain amidst financial impossibilities while carrying the dreams of so many students in your brilliant mind. What you have accomplished in the last four years despite the health problems that beset you is incredible and makes your resilience and commitment to creating impact shine all the more.
I am glad that you have found a treatment option that can work and help restore your health, your quality of life, and your impact. I pray that you get all the financial resources needed to facilitate this, and be on your feet again doing what you love without any hindrances.
Love, hugs, and prayers.

Oh, my dear Uche, this is so heartbreaking. I'm at loss with words. I pray for healing, dear. You deserve to live a healthy life.

So, sorry to hear your story Uche. I had fibroid experience, so i know what it looks it. Have you tried Fohow product or Jigsimur. They shrink some or reduce the small so that you are fine without surgery.
