I am Ukhengching Marma ,I belong to one of the indigenous groups of Bangladesh.Being from an underprivileged and minority community discrimination has been a common thing which i am facing since my childhood.Since my childhood I have struggled to establish my own identity as an indigenous girl who does value and care about her own community people. I am currently studying at Asian University for Women,Bangladesh.I am passionate about to make a change through education in one of the conflicted areas in Bangladesh called Chittagong Hill Tracts. Education is a backbone of a nation or society which also plays a vital key role to bring harmony in the conflict affected areas As i am learning the skills of being a leader in own community from this tremendous institution i want to contribute my knowledge to help my community ,specially the children and women. My aims are including the develpement of Chittagong Hill Tracts, empowering girls in own community.
Social media has given me the sopportunity to connect with tremendous women leaders from around the world such as the World Pulse platform where i am sharing innovative ideas, soltuions of many problems women are facing around the world. These things are helping me to learn, to be empowered. The importance of digital media is crystally seen to be existed such as grabing opportunties, sharing opportunities with other people. I have been lucky to work with many organizations for the betterment of the society thorugh online such as World Merit, World Youth Foundation, Play for Peace , Amnesty International, Acumen, Novo Ed. These organizations have helped to bring out my inner potential and utilze to contirbute more to the society. Internet has provided numeruous opportunties to women around the world and every girl or woman has the right to to use the internet to gain more knowldge. I meet many inspiring women leaders everyday through social media which is helping me to know about their culture, their problems and solutions to the problems in their respective communties. Digital media has helped my voice to be heard in the international communities such as my vision, my struggles and my story to the others. I always get motivated more when my efforts get appreciated by the people aorund the world, by the sisters from World Pulse.
Now my motivation is to work for the reproductive and education sector of Bangladesh. Along with my studies I have started to contribute in my community by engaging in some my own initiated projects such as " Indigenous Adolescent Girls Health Awareness Program" , "Campaign for Menstrual Hygiene", " Mentorship Project for the underprivileged Indigenous students at CHT". I am not individually inspired of a single person, i get inspiration from every individual person such as my mother, world pulse sisters, world women leaders.
I am grateful to World Pulse that it has been a platform to be connected with amazing female leaders around the world. Its the power of social media.Lets get connected !!
