Processing.

Ever imagined what is it like to open a human mind and see how it works? The complexity of understanding the nature of human mind would be pretty difficult to solve. Human mind thinks logically but gets distracted with the feelings that comes from a human heart. So going back to the "very famous" debate, HEART V/S MIND, we are back to the debate again. Today, I still wonder how great leaders and successful path walkers proceeded on choosing between one. Some say, logical mind is the best choice to hold success but some says, follow your heart. My question is who decides and how he or she decides to make a unique choice. Human mind is designed to go through a method called processing. Proceeding is another big task, human beings struggle dealing with. At least for now I struggle, I struggle to think logically and follow my emotional mind track. Emotional mind track that asks me to take decision according to my emotional intuitions. Back in 2014, I lost my small brother due his suffering from an unfamiliar disease called "Sepsis", this motivated to study bachelor in Public Health. So that, I could aware more people about the diseases, and save human lives. Again in 2018, while I was working on my thesis and exploring village areas in Nepal, looking at the miserable conditions of rural lives, I decided to do Masters in Rural Development. See, how till now my emotional intuitions have led me to make life long decisions. Now I am questioning myself whether if I actually am interested in the field of rural development.

I have always taken decisions according to the emotional intuitions but now I am questioning if its worth making such choices?

Hi Melissa - I love that you posted hard questions here - even if you don't have the answers. When I am faced with a hard question, the best way I have to coming to a decision is to step back and try to find some inner peace. Once I feel peace inside, I can feel in my gut (maybe that's what you describe as emotional intuition) what the right choice is. I can't wait to hear where this journey leads you and I hope you find peace.

Thank you so much for your suggestion.
Can I ask you, how do you initiate to find inner peace?

That's a big question :) I try to step away from the problem and go to a place that helps me calm my thoughts - walking in the woods is perfect for me, or some people need to be by bodies of water. If you are spiritual, reading texts that bring you inspiration and peace also helps. Otherwise, just deep breathing and trying not to focus on the big question but just connect with yourself. that's my best advice at least. Big hugs to you and can't wait to hear what comes next!

Hi Melissa,

Thanks for sharing your introspective post? Do you regret starting your Masters in Rural Development? Do you feel that it isn't resonating for you any longer? It's okay to change your mind and change direction; as long as you are following your heart and not your head. You can't go wrong when you do this. Do you journal or meditate at all? Good luck with your decision. I'm sure you'll make the correct one..

Sister Melissa... go where your heart is.. studying something that interested us for the moment is one thing and applying what we have learned is another thing. When you think that learning about public health and rural development will make you a good advocate and a better development worker, then your choices are worth it. If your priorities have changed into a different field, then it's alright, too because what you learned in public health and rural development will be useful to you one day. As everything happens for a reason, your studies could be a preparation for something new and exciting. What could they be? Please tell us.

Much love,
Paulina
