I am Founder/Director of Breaking the Silence Worldwide Foundation, an organization focussing on education on menstrual hygiene management, family planning and sexual and reproductive health of adolescent girls and women in India and globally. The most profound aspect of our effort is our outreach, focus on rural regions and marginalised communities, working in partnership with the government of India at different levels, building leadership, empowering youth and women, the use of technology/internet/digital skills to scale our experiences and learnings to a global and urban online community and working with boys and men. What has the impact of my work been like? I have been able to position menstrual hygiene, the harmful effect of myths, taboos and stigma around menstruation and shame around female bodies as an urgent social cause needing attention, policy and intervention since 2013 when I first began. Shakti (power) Women's Healing and Safety Center is my next dream intervention.
A world where a girl child will be welcomed as a boy child with investment on her nutrition, health hygiene, education, safety and happiness.
