Sanitary napkins contribution

Received a box full of sanitary napkins as a donation to be given to adolescent girls and women in villages in rural parts of India, Africa and South-east Asia this year during our trainings and community sensitization drives that we do every year. The support comes from a very special young woman and clinical doctor Ğůđdi Dee Laishram based in Maharashtra. Inside the box, I found a note which read:

" Enjoy your gift, dear sister. Wish you the best for your upcoming campaign!May the girls and women enjoy free and health bleeding too! #PERIOD Much love from Dr. Guddi Laishram."

Guddi has also joined my family at World Pulse and will be seen helping us in Bangalore in the month of May at our flagship program " Men Take Lead Ride."

I am so thrilled to see this kind of support. I ensure all the materials to reach the people they are meant for. Breaking the Silence cannot give you tax waiver but we can give you deep contentment of making a difference in the way women live.

How many people have you impacted since your last update?

Dear Jill,

It indeed is a gift to have Guddi and many other people who I call " friends of Breaking the Silence" who have given material and intellectual support to help me implement a comprehensive program on awareness on menstrual health when I had no funding from any agency whatsoever. Its commendable how support alone makes the engine run and not money as we believed. I am doing great my sister, still waiting to color my hair :)

Love and kisses

You are shedding light on a topic that is new to me. I have always taken for granted my easy access to these important supplies. Thank you, good luck, and happy International Women's Day!

You have said it so well- we take things for granted and then find even the simplest of commodities and facilities are luxury or even never experienced by a large segment in the society. Menstrual hygiene is related to identity, pride in that identity, entitlement to care and infrastructure and even gender equality.
