I nominate sister Zephaniah a Pakistani education activist for the Ambassador World Pulse Spirit Awards

Sister Zephaniah from Gujrangwala in Pakistan runs two schools, three bible schools and several vocational training centres to teach young girls and women skills like tailoring, beauty saloon, embroidery for their livelihood to give education to the girl child which is not a priority for parents in Pakistan, give them skills to become economically independent and live life with self-respect. For someone from Pakistan, India and other developing countries where the lines between the poor and rich are stark and difference in the way they lead lives totally in contrast, we know just all too well the story of the girl child. She is working amidst all of that. In recent years, she has started to save girl children who have suffered burn injuries or have medical condictions that their families are neglecting. If you think, how can one young woman so beautiful in person be doing so much, I must tell you I have more to say about sister Zephaniah. She picked up a small new born infant from the street which had been deserted by parents/family because girl child is considered to be a burden in our society. She is bringing up the child so well with the help and support of her parents and family. The child is named "Eva" and we are watching little Eva grow from a thin undernourished baby to a beautiful and healthy infant. My heart dances with joy looking at Eva and her mother, sister Zephaniah. If this isn't the love God asked us to feel and practice, what is? For the mighty love that resides inside of sister Zephaniah I nominate her for the Ambassador World Pulse Spirit Awards because the World Pulse spirit of dismissing every man-made divide and discrimination and wearing the cloak of love and acceptance is the essence of sister Zephaniah.

Zephaniah Free Education is the name of the school sister Zephaniah runs.

Dear Anita,
Women around the world are experiencing similar barriers and subjugation and if you read this years gender report you will be devastated. Women in India and the sub-continent are lacking behind in all development parameters and the crimes and injustices are mounting. In such a situation, how can we revrese the situation? By linking our hands together, irrespective of where we come from, Nepal, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Bhutan or any other place, we can support each other to fight for our rights and entitlements. World Pulse is the best platform for linking women across the globe and the #SpriritAwards is an opportunity for us to tell women who inspire us how much we value them. Its not important who wins. Wish you a happy 2020 sister.
Love always,
Urmila Chanam
