Women Human Rights

What are women’s human rights?

Women’s rights are the fundamental human rights that were enshrined  for every human being on the planet nearly 70 years ago. These rights include the right to live free from violence, slavery, and discrimination; to be educated; to own property; to vote; and to earn a fair and equal wage.

As the now-famous saying goes, “women’s rights are human rights.” That is to say, women are entitled to all of these rights. Yet almost everywhere around the world, women and girls are still denied them, often simply because of their gender.

Winning rights for women is about more than giving opportunities to any individual woman or girl; it is also about changing how countries and communities work. It involves changing laws and policies, winning hearts and minds, and investing in strong women’s organizations and movements.

What rights do we stand for?

We want every woman and girl to realize the rights that are enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We also stand for other rights that are vital for women’s equality

Hello Usbin,
Yours is a good message. I think we can easily forget the collective big picture endeavor of pushing for universal human rights within the context of isolated individual efforts of women /girls empowerment.

Hi Usbin,
So important to put this squarely on the table. "Winning rights for women is about more than giving opportunities to any individual woman or girl; it is also about changing how countries and communities work". I so agree that even though there is a Declaration of Human Rights, as women we do not have them. I agree so strongly with you. It is not about a few rights for a few women. It is about every one of us living without violence, and with freedom to make our own choices. Governments are responsible and need to make the changes. Thank you for laying it out clearly.

Everyone in the world should have the same human right, same for woman. We understand there equality of gender in some places of the world is still not good. We need to work hards to bring awareness of all women and girls to understand their human rights and improve the situation of gender equality.
Almighty God will bless us all!

Hello, dear Usbin,

It's true. Women have equal rights as enumerated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Women should know their rights and uphold them. Thank you for this reminder.
