The future of my grandchildren

I live in Rio de Janeiro a city regarded as wonderful for the world.

And this city is beautiful, has beautiful beaches, breathtaking scenery and hospitable people.

The beauty of the city goes beyond the landscapes of nature and extends to popular culture of a people.

The music, literature, visual arts and crafts are exposed to the world, especially in the celebration of Carnival. Most people who are dedicated to composing music, creating costumes, dancing and singing show, live in slums.

The first site was called Morro da Favela, currently called Morro da Providencia. Other areas of similar houses have sprung up in other parts of the state and country, if they were makeshift dwellings in impoverished areas gained the identity of the slum. It's a place where the population consists mainly of poor immigrants who use and occupy the space especially in risk areas, on slopes and banks of rivers.

The first was named Favela Morro da Favela currently called Morro da Providencia. Other areas of similar homes that have arisen, thus gained an identity of favela

Slopes and even near rivers. The risk is evident when the rains falling off on the slopes or in places that are not structured to have homes, there are always losses to families, whether their loved ones is their property.
Located in areas at risk when the rains fall on the slopes or in places that are not structured to have homes, there are always losses for families..
Many slums and / or poor communities, are facing social environments. They are being deployed control of police action in the fight against local violence caused by drug use and involvement with the underworld.

Policing Units Peacekeeping known as UPP, has provided a good work in communities with the approach of a state of peace. There is further development of the site due to public input allowing residents of these places to experience greater freedom in their own context, and use a larger menu of public service that automatically install with the deployments of UPPS.

Some strong initiatives in favor of urban sanitation in the slums and the hills have counted on the participation of the voluntary action of civil society in partnership with the government to give a new face for the state, bringing communities for care, attention and several social .

These actions are highlighted in the media because of the relevance brings a fresh look at a space is an educational project where the community is coparticipante and feels responsible for the proposal and continue to enjoy the goods that emerge. But for greater engagement of população must go further.

All must unite for the greater good sustainable development of our state, country, perhaps the world. We should invest more in education, make the mandatory content of entrepreneurship from early childhood education.

Involving children and their families in a culture preserve their futuristic space on the planet, mainly teaching care of your loved one, invest in developing strategies for reuse of what turns into garbage, teach a way of looking to take advantage of the lowest space for self support investing in an education policy for the conservation and better utilization of natural resources that our state has.

Starting from a simple work that a child is in kindergarten, what material is used in this action, would use a stick and scratch the ground is already developing the motor part of the children?
When you use the leaves as they are appreciated by their families, they are discarded. they are valued by parents?
And when the meals, what to do with leftover food, and put them together without causing the appearance of insects and rodents?
How often ha selective collection in homes and businesses where the waste will be stored?

There is work with the waste disposal rather misuse, targeting a population a way that causes less damage to health and air with the gases that are produced?

There sanitation at all slums and communities where they flow into debris, sewage and treatment there?

How to educate the population to a paradigm shift from the usual waste of water, releasing balloons that fall in forests, homes and businesses, leaving at risk vegetation, population and assets?

And the thousands of buildings that are being made? There are conditions to meet the demands that are inherent in the mass population that inhabited these places?

Public transportation is undergoing modernization in order to reduce the flow routes, thereby minimizing air pollution. Does this strategy meet in the future?

By doing so many questions that are really allowing us to think of a better world, where exploitation of the environment is the pursuit of life, we want to develop skills so that people feel responsible for the longevity of the planet's natural resources.

Browse the community and understand what sustainable development is in place is important.

We did a search on a major network access, Facebook, with an associate, whose total of friends reaches 680 people, based on only two questions directed people who have influence in their communities.

How popular communities can contribute to sustainable development?

Only three people responded and nineteen cutiram. It is worrying to see that this network where many people share a variety of information such matter was not discussed with the appropriate value.

Let us look to the opinion of the journalist Landa Araujo who is a resident of the community of Rocinha, the largest slum in Latin America, and working in the NGO Viva Rio in one of their interphases Viva Favela.

"First of all be willing to do so. Residents must be willing to throw the trash in the right place, sort out what is recyclable and what is not, avoid spending too much water (which is what we see in most communities) and be participatory, are aware of courses, activities and events with the theme for the best and well known to sensitize the closest, as children, relatives and neighbors. Be a multiplier of environmental awareness, which is of paramount importance.

Public policies in force, has just been inaugurated the Green Mill, in Rocinha, which is a project of e-waste recycling and training of professionals in setting up computer. And there is a work of enormous contention that even slopes generated controversy because it was identified as a wall made to divide the population of the upper class Rociense São Conrado and the rest of the city.

When referring to the residents, I once did a story about the garbage and I remember that one of the biggest problems faced by local people was the lack of physical space to be created a factory, a sector of garbage separation. So mostly the population does not contribute much, throw garbage on the slopes, in ditches. They have a caring relationship with the environment. "

Another person who wished to leave his record was Mrs Monica Iaromila resident at the Maracana, historian and psychologist that develops knowledge and actions of self care with nature "is necessary for a sense of belonging. Most of us felt not in possession of his place, we own only our "small farm" in our house.

If there is an experiential and conceptual work that encourages the community to truly take responsibility for the welfare of all there is a possibility of change. In this sense, each community could help itself and the whole society in which it operates.

The point is that we have a "grasshopper mentality" and that is common throughout most of the planet. Exhausted and abandoned.

Frankly, I think a better use of water is critical and we know how much it is complicated to understand everywhere.
As for the place where he lives to Monica neighborhood, the Maracana, where the World Cup will take place in 2014, says he knows no other action apart from recycling that is done in the building where she lives.

A year after having suffered from flooding the City of Freiburg, in Rio de Janeiro tries to rebuild the local psychologist Tereza Cristina is a resident of this city and called for greater involvement of all.

According to Teresa, only "GETTING INVOLVED!

Without involvement there is no participation no desenvolvimento local and especially awareness of the consequences that the actions of today will bring to the future.

Delegate to the younger, guardians of the future, monitoring and continuity of projects. Know and disclose the specific needs, locations, searching in the community to solve problems. "The community has problems but also has the solutions." Locate the problems and solutions in our home Earth. Creating networks of social solidarity. "

I will talk in terms of the City because after the catastrophe of January 11, 2011, all had to think collectively.

Many groups were formed with specific objectives - The Absurd movement, denouncing what happened, The New Freiburg in Transition, seeking people's participation for the construction of eco-neighborhoods, and many others. Then we saw that TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER. Then came the GAM - Group of Coordination of movements in an attempt to integrate all the movements that have arisen.

Advances have been small because of low participation and community involvement.

Parallel to the Emergency Plan prepared by the Government, was prepared by Dialogue, an NGO participant in the GAM, Which was missing in the official plan, the participation of civil society. Came the CFSP - Emergency Plan Civil Society Which Involving the project was the training of citizenship. The communities Discussed Their Difficulties to face risky Situations Themselves and identify solutions, including Knowing what, where and how to get the resources needed to They.

At the moment we are organizing the First Festival of the Earth is going to happen in August (God willing! Has been delayed several times) with the proposal to hold a public square in a series of consultations, workshops, recycling of material, environmental stewardship, alternative food and organic, TCI wheels and more. We are facing all the paperwork needed to effectively be able to perform.

Then let's move on to seek partnerships, support and sponsorship to better carry the event.

After everything that happened here, it is urgent to do something to ensure sustainable development. It's what we're doing through ECCOS - Area of Construction, Harmony and Social Organization in the mountainous region, looking for this link between all those who intend to stay to rebuild the city in other bases, more real, and consciously respectful of nature and people.

We intend to participate in developing the Peoples' Summit Community Therapy Integrative wheels so that the mouth speaks before the body speak with disease and unnecessary suffering. "

An emergency for the State of Rio de Janeiro, an emergency for the world 20-22 June, all eyes and ears will be focused on this marvelous city, which are wonderful ideas and solutions to raise the awareness of thousands of persons.

The grandchildren of today's youth also need to eat, breathe and have quenched your thirst.

The grandchildren of today's youth, parents of the future, also need to eat, breathe and have quenched their thirst, require that there is life on the planet.

Rio + 20 here I come!
