The Rising Stars

Its okay to look back and smile, then look forward with hope. I can feel the heat reflecting on my bedroom window, its summer here and too hot to type but the thought of sharing Hope and Love that comes with my work is an opportunity not to be missed.

Me and my girls believe that everyone is a writer and have a unique voice. Born with a Unique creative genius( Pat Schneider). We believe in no critism, only positive comments/feedback are given, hence share our stories with confidence and love regardless of what we write. There is trrust and sisterhood with this method of writing.

Who am I? I am a lady who believes in supporting girls education and one way of doing this is empowering young girls to read and write. Where I come from, just a few women have published books and majority have not adopted the reading culture. In the village where the majority of people live, they prefer to send a boy to school than a girl in a situation where there is financial constraints in the family.Yet it is proven that once you educate a girl you educate the whole village. This is the reason why I read and write with the girls, many young girls can not read or write especially in the village.

I grew up from a good home raised by a good father, a hard working man, he was the Head in Chief of Police for many years. Despite coming from a privillaged home, my father always reminded us the importance of school and why we should live to love others and above all, never to waste food. My father died 18 yrs ago, he was involved in a car accident. By then I was writing my o'levels. My life changed after that, I quickly grew and learnt to be independent. By the grace of God, I worked hard and finished my studies in the United Kingdom. I had to work hard to pay for my studies(The Chartered Institute of Marketing) and my Masters(MSc Marketing) Today, I look back and look forward and I smile for I see hope, I see opportunities.

I have been working with girls from the age of 4 to 23 for 2 yrs now. We simply sit, write and read and listen to each others stories. We also dance and sing a lot, my girls loves to dance. I have seen them all growing in confidence, self-esteem and above all, they are doing so well in school. I know I have a great responsibility and I take that with honour and respect. They struggle to find basic food and fees but together we are trying to find a way to survive. My aim is to find sponsors to pay their fees and provide their basic needs, but we believe that the best is yet to come.

I see them smile, I see them holding on to hope, I see future visionary leaders, they give me hope to continue, to continue reading, to continue writing, to continue learning and above all, to move forward.
