Journalists from all media who want to improve their skills in environmental reporting can apply for a weeklong workshop in Rhode Island.
TheMetcalf Instituteis accepting applications for the Annual Science Immersion Workshop for journalists. The workshop will take place at theUniversity of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanographyon June 5 to 12, 2016.
Participants will explore the impacts of human activities in coastal ecosystems through one-on-one interactions with leading scientists, conduct a fisheries survey aboard the URI research vessel and sharpen their investigative reporting skills.
The fellowship provides room, board, tuitionand up to US$500 in travel support (paid as a reimbursement after the program).International journalists traveling from outside the United States are eligible for up to US$1,000 reimbursement for travel.
