A voice for the girl child

Where there is a will there is a way. This is my golden rule as I venture into the world of raising the voice of the girl child. Having subscribed to Radio for peace building updates I landed into the Pulse wire online community. As I perused through this online magazine I found some training for women journalists and whose aim is to see through the eyes of women. It has always been my desire to raise the voice of women especially those who did not have an opportunity for formal education. As I saw the course I dreamed of a time when given the skills I can learn how to write powerful articles to take care of the voiceless women who are denied education at an early age.
To me online journalism skills serve multiple reasons. One, I can speak and create awareness to the community and policy makers about the plight of girl child and women education. Secondly, these are skills that I can use to teach the girl child and women. Thirdly ,I could use my current position as a women working in education media to put the skills into practice. It takes the will of a single change agent to do this as learnt from the story of Jensine in 2003 whose one voice has grown to many voices.
