Menstruation as a Gift to Girls and Women
There is need to systematically address all stereotypes surrounding Menstruation

Menstruation which begins at the onset of puberty and continues to Adulthood is a gift to Girls and Women signifying their uniqueness.Unfortunately, this issue is still treated as a taboo and in utmost secrecy in a number of communities this is of course due to traditional and religious stereotypes which depicts Menstruation as Unclean.

The new era characterized by the Sustainable Development Goals, Agenda 2063, Maputo Protocol and other global and regional documents which promotes the empowerment of Women and the Girl-Child directly or indirectly recognizes the importance of Menstruation by promoting Women and Girls'  unhindered access to resources.

As we mark the 2019 Menstrual Hygiene day, there is need to systematically address all stereotypes surrounding Menstruation while also promoting the need for Women and Girls' to have unhindered access to water and sanitary materials to make their monthly cycle a pleasurable experience.

Hi WGCCEO,

Education on menstrual hygiene is very necessary. Most women and young girls need to be aware of the importance of such. While we do that, we should include boys and women in the discussion. This will be very interesting as some boys and women have stories to share on such topic too.
You are doing a great job.
Thank you for sharing your story.

Hello, WGCCEO,

I agree that as women we are to address the stigma attached to menstruation. Thank you for being one of those who proactively campaign for change on how the world should view menstrual hygiene.

Thanks for sharing! Welcome to World Pulse. There are many Menstrual Hygiene Advocates here. I hope you get connected with them.

You are welcome to world pulse. Its very true a lot need to be done regarding menstrual hygiene. Its for the above reasons that the 28/05/19 is set as Menstrual hygiene day, at least stakeholders will use the day to reflect on the do's ,don't's and the way forward. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day.
