News with gender perspective "A little but big difference in journalism"

Well, finally Peace Correspondent website its “on air”… that’s why I have been absent from Pulse Wire for a while … for those of you that speak Spanish, you can now read the Walesa’s interview (www.corresponsaldepaz.org) but actually I am waiting for the translation, I can share that document in a week or something like that.

Today I would like to talk about “Gender news” issues: I was reading this morning that UNESCO just announced a new (and interesting) initiative about (and for) Woman working in Media.

To celebrate the International Women’s Day, this UN Agency will be launching “Women Make the News”, that will be a online forum to discuss gender, equality, discrimination and most of all, the relevance of our role (as journalist) in the front desk news.

This initiative also is seeking for improving gender politics inside the mass media, and it calls to take care about the language that we used to use in news stories. Actually, it is also a guide to learn the way to tell a news story with gender perspective: “Getting the balance right”

You could find more of this in this link.

I really hope it will help you on your work. Kind regards to all of you. Xthina “ )
