UNTO THE DAUGHTERS

"The only way to rectify the family's honor is to have wife, daughter, sister killed. " BLOOD cleanses HONOR", killer says.

Honor killing, Muslim women have been brutally murdered by family members. Her crime? Trying to break free and live in western lifestyle. The killers are reversed as "heroes" for thier family dignity. How can such horrific and shockingly archaic practices flourishing in the heart? The deaths have sparkled momentary ourselves, will they change the grim reality for the muslim women?

"Killing more people won't help matters. "

At least, 943 women were killed in the name of honor, of which 93 were minors. Killed for being raped, Hena, 14, was raped when she went to toilet and she was sentenced to 100 lashes under Sharia law. She made it to 70.

A girl was chopped just because she was caught meeting with her lover. We are taught to love, and than we are restricted for the same.

But to all these incidents is killing the only thing which will give justice to all. Behind a single moment, they forget the lifetime they have spent with that person. From the moment you gave to her birth, from the moment when you called her your "angel", from the moment when you surprised her on her every birthday eve, from the moment when you gifted her a beautiful dress with a crown, from the moment when she spoke the first time "maa" and "paa",from the time when she held your finger and learnt to walk, the moment when you dropped and picked her from the school, from the time you thought her to be a doctor, engineer, business woman. Even she got the equal right, like that of a men to decide and live for herself. Killing has become easier, than living. Under the terms and conditions that is made by the society.

The honor of having a child becomes a sin via religious principles, as per the say..

Respect and honor all human being irrespective of thier religion, color, race, sex, language, status, property, birth, profession/job and so on.. Quran [17/70]

To Honor is.. To Love To Protect and to Defend

THERE IS NO HONOR IN MURDER...

Hello Zainshah786,

To Honor is.. To Love To Protect and to Defend... I couldn't agree more!

It is heartbreaking to read of stories like these that have become the realities of these victims. Thank you for sharing this. I hope more people begin to see the merit in love and peace as opposed to violence and killing.

Keep shining the light...

Dear Zainshah786,

Thank you so much for sharing these stories. Like April, I appreciated your definition of honor. This is such an important issue to discuss. How do you think honor killings can be addressed? What are possible solutions or strategies to combat it?

As you said,  "Killing more people won't help matters. "

Warm regards,

Jasmine

Dear jasmine,

Good day

When it comes to honor killing, specifically the thing which comes to my mind is what kind of honor is being addressed. How can someones killing can be a honor for somebody else. It is just a killing or murdering a person, irrespective of emotions and feelings.

Its is a heir act when is on going from years back. Which needs to be stopped for now.

The person should killing someone in the name of honor, should be equally punished and treated as a murderer.

Dear Zain,

This is really disturbing and pain stricken. How can humans, family not realize the worth of those lives . We do not own anyone 's life ,so no one has teh right to take anyone's lives. This  old tradition of  killing in name of honour for love,is really a sick one.

People need their thought process to be broadened and should be educated . While education also doesnt give any respite about such thinking, still it might help .

People need to embrace others irrespective of their caste and creed as humans. We need to be humans first.

Thanks

Dear Zain, the story is so  pathetic. The only solution to this menace is to teach the perpetrators what real love is and how to have  value  for life. If not they will till see it as the best practice.

Thanks

Dear Zainab,

Thank you for speaking up and it's very courageous of your part. I never understood this thing of honor killing and apparently is mostly against women. You've my full support because for too long, I believe women around the world are oppressed in the name of culture, tradition and/or religion as if women aren't fully humans as the opposite gender. That being said, let your shine light. You're at the right place but above all, take care.
