Introducing myself and my journal: Community Sensitization and awarness

A call for our communities living in areas prone to disaster. In my country Uganda my call goes to all members of the public staying in Eastern Uganda near Mt Elgon, and the Western parts of the country near the Rwenzori Mountain.Apparently these areas are experiencing disasters like landslides and floods and our people are still staying in these areas despite the call from responsible parties to leave these areas as more rains are expected in the months of May and June 2013.Please let us slowly leave our historical ancestral homes and move slowly to provided safe places.

The question would be why do you think that despite all the warnings and deaths that have occured, people are still staying in these areas?

One issue arises among these communities,as I discussed with several elderly members of the Elgon community which was hit recently by a landslide. The issue of security of ownership of land ,they lament\"we don't want to move because we dont know how secure our new homes will be,shall will be given full ownership or somebody might throw us out tomorrow\"

Dialogue with responsible parties is paramount so they not feel they are losing something to gain nothing.

My thinking is we need to sensitize and create awareness among our people for them to understand the seriousness and the level of risk involved in staying in these areas.

At Fratern Consult,we are pushing to join this struggle where through sensitization and awarness the mindset of our communities can be changed and this will reduce on the loss of lives during times of such emergencies.

Join us in this fight, share with us Ideas lets connect to improve the well being of our people.
