A Toast to Our Volunteers

World Pulse staff will gather tonight to reflect on and celebrate the year behind us—and send out a special toast to the volunteers who have made this year's achievements possible. In this season of gratitude, we recognize that the vitality of the World Pulse community and the impact of our work rests on the dedication, empowered leadership, and generously donated time and talent of many, many people.

The World Pulse staff would like to recognize and thank all of you who have volunteered your time, energy, expertise, and more to support our staff and our community with such dedication and care. Since most of you are scattered across the globe—some of you thousands of miles away from our headquarters in Portland, Oregon—please accept this virtual toast:

To the welcomers and listeners: Thank you for making PulseWire the uniquely warm and supportive environment that it is. Thanks to your comments and messages on PulseWire, women from Argentina to China know that their voices are being heard, and feel encouraged to continue to speak up. You spread the culture of engagement and support, making an online community of over 11,000 people from 185 countries feel like a close-knit group of friends.

To the Voices of Our Future vision mentors and editorial midwives: You are a group of talented and successful leaders from around the world, and your commitment helping VOF correspondents realize their visions is inspirational. You are an essential part of what makes our training program unique and wonderful. Thank you!

To the translators: You have played an integral role in helping make PulseWire accessible to those without English-language skills. World Pulse is committed to developing more tools to expand access to the opportunities and resources we provide, and your help has been integral in moving us in that direction. Translating documents is a long and complicated process, and we’re grateful for your skills and support!

To our office volunteers and advisors: Your work has been a huge support for our programs, operations, and events, and has helped us to achieve our goals this year. Whether you helped with logistics for the World Pulse Live tour, helped monitor and evaluate our impact, helped curate content on our website, or helped launch this year’s Voices of Our Future training program, we are so grateful and proud to have you as part of our team.

You all have come to us with a wealth of experience and a deep passion for our mission, and we know how lucky we are to have your support. Thank you for carrying our work forward as we successfully launched another training program and speaking tour, several writing campaigns and contests, and broadcasted stories from our community to wider audiences. You are helping ensure the voices of women change leaders around the world are heard loud and clear. We hope you’ll stay with us as we get ready for an exciting 2012!

World Pulse has been very kind and supportive. World Pulse gave their sincere and genuine support to be able to make my presentation at the Rio+20 world summit held in the Rio De Janeiro in June this year. Breese McIlvaine was the person I co-ordinated with at that time and she provided her online support for making my presentation. Even if I say thanks to her a 1000 times that would still be insufficient to express my gratitude for her efforts, guidance and for processing my presentation. It is extremely important that World Pulse continue to engage and associate themselves in the same spirit in future also.
