World Pulse is proud to announce a new partnership with the Telecentre.org Foundation (TCF), an organization that supports the establishment and sustainability of grassroots level telecentres and shares World Pulse's commitment to women's digital literacy. Community technology centers, or telecentres, are a major force around the world. Every year, one in seven people on the planet (1 billion) spends time in one of 500,000 telecentres located in every imaginable location and situation. Telecentres don't just deliver access to ICT—they create countless opportunities for people and communities by providing training, outreach programs, public sector services, and much more.
The partnership between World Pulse and Telecentre.org Foundation will support the digital empowerment of grassroots women worldwide by equipping women with digital literacy skills and enabling their participation and leadership at local and global levels. Specifically, the agreement will focus on introducing World Pulse as a resource to women participating in telecentres by making World Pulse activity cards available in telecentres in Eastern Africa and Central Asia. World Pulse will work with Telecentre.org Foundation representatives and network coordinators to identify the needs of telecentre women, and hopes to strategize with Telecentre.org to scale the pilot and bring digital empowerment to all women participating in telecentres around the world.
“TCF is on the cutting edge of empowering women through ICTs, and World Pulse is honored to partner with them to magnify the power of women’s voices worldwide,” says Jensine Larsen, CEO of World Pulse.
Tess Camba, Director of Operations for Telecentre.org Foundation also expressed support for the partnership, saying, “World Pulse is one of the foremost action media networks for women globally and TCF is very excited to have them join us as a partner for our Telecentre Women program.”
To kick off the partnership, World Pulse Program Director Rachael Maddock-Hughes will be representing World Pulse at Telecentre.org Foundation's Spark13 conference on May 28-29 in Granada, Spain. Spark13 is a global event seeking to bring together people from all corners of the world to share thoughts, exchange ideas, inspire action, and create impact through information and communication technology (ICT). Serving as more than just a meeting point for the Global Telecentre Network, Spark13 expects to gather more than 1300 participants from the ICT for development sector. The agreement between World Pulse and Telecentre.org Foundation will be formally announced at the conference.
