The French government created the SFD in 1993 in order to provide financial support to local communities and to countries of the Priority Solidarity Zone (PSZ) in their development initiatives. The SFD meets two goals: 1) to contribute to poverty alleviation efforts; 2) to give the beneficiaries a chance to be directly involved in the development process. The first phase of SFD in Kenya was implemented in 2001; since then, four other phases funded 84 projects. The sixth phase started in 2014. The following areas are a priority: a) Gender; b) Education with a French component if possible; c) Increase the living conditions in slums. However, projects from other sectors and responding to specific needs from the local communities are not excluded. The SFD is one of the main cooperation tools in Kenya. It can be adapted to the populations needs all over the country. However, the following counties are now given priority and highly encouraged to send a proposal: Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru and Uasin Gishu. The estimated starting date for selected projects will be 1st November 2015.

The International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) is inviting proposals for original research projects which contribute to an improved understanding of the gender dimensions of urban climate resilience in Asia. The funding is available for research institutions and individual researchers based in Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam to undertake policy-relevant research in a city or cities that have initiated planning or programmes for climate change adaptation. Eligibility criteria: 1) Projects should focus on examining the extent to which gender dimensions have been – or should be – considered in the process of assessing vulnerability, developing city resilience strategies, and implementing resilience-building initiatives at the city level. Research proposals that involve collaborations between researchers, practitioners and government agencies are especially encouraged, as are proposals that explicitly include inputs from a gender expert; 2) The study should use one or more cities in Indonesia, Thailand or Vietnam as the basis for a case study. These cities could include, but are not limited to, cities that have been involved in the Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network (ACCCRN). ACCCRN is a Rockefeller Foundation programme that aims to develop and implement strategies to build urban resilience to climate change. USAID/Bangladesh plans to invest in a three-year activity to improve the overall health and health seeking behavior for adolescents. Specifically, the Mission is seeking assistance to improve the health and well-being of Bangladeshi adolescents by improving community attitudes regarding the delay of early marriage and by improving access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and other health information and services. The goal is to empower female and male adolescents to advocate for their own needs and desires in order to delay marriage until at least ages 18 and 21, the legal marriage age for girls and boys respectively, and delay first birth until the age of 20 for girls. The expectation is that this will improve the health and well-being of girls and boys, especially girls as they develop into adults and prepare for motherhood; and ultimately, enable healthier babies to be born to healthier mothers. Bloomberg Initiative is a global initiative seeking call for proposals to reduce tobacco use in low- and middle-income countries. The grants program supports projects to develop and deliver high-impact evidence-based tobacco control interventions. The grants program is managed by the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union) and the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids. Priority is given to projects that lead to sustainable improvements in tobacco control laws, regulations, policies and programs at the national or sub-national level including: a) Tax and price measures, including anti-smuggling measures; b) Direct and indirect advertising bans and effective enforcement of bans, including promotion and sponsorship; c) Establishment of smoke-free workplaces and public places, and effective enforcement of smoke-free policies; d) Implementation of graphic warning labels on tobacco products; e) Other evidence-based regulatory/legislative initiatives. Eligibility Criteria – Applicants must: 1) be governmental or non-governmental organizations based in low-and middle-income countries (as categorized by the World Bank); 2) be recognized legal entities capable of entering into contractual arrangements, receiving foreign funds and assuming legal and financial obligations; 3) be organizations with relevant advocacy experience aimed at changing or implementing policies including but not limited to civil society organizations and educational institutions. The Initiative places a priority on countries with the greatest number of tobacco users. ViiV Healthcare is a global specialist HIV company dedicated to delivering advances in treatment and care for people living with HIV. Through the initiative, ViiV Healthcare will fund creative social and digital strategies developed by young MSM (ages 18-29) in collaboration with nonprofit sexual health or AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs) to increase sexual health knowledge within their own communities. Positive Action works with those communities most vulnerable to HIV disease, including youth, girls and women, sex workers, gay men, MSM, transgender people, injecting drug users (IDU), the homeless and the incarcerated. Our projects range across education, prevention, care and treatment-related activity such as treatment literacy and community / clinical engagement. The South East European Media Observatory is seeking applications to implement public awareness and advocacy campaigns and organize actions aiming to support free, independent, pluralistic and viable media in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia. The call for proposals is part of the second phase of a project which aims at supporting integrity both in public service and commercial media in South East Europe. Eligibility Criteria: 1) Civil society organizations (CSOs) – professional associations, advocacy groups, think tanks, research institutes, human rights organizations, anti-corruption organizations and other CSOs – specializing in media and with relevant experience in the eligible countries; 2) Actions with focus on the main topic of media integrity. Media integrity encompasses qualities of the media system which enable the media to serve public interest and democracy; 3) Applicants must be CSOs registered in any of the eligible countries, established as a legal entity, having a non-commercial purpose, being independent of any local, regional and national governments, any public entities, political parties, religious institutions and commercial organizations and actively operating according to their founding document for at least 1 year prior to submitting the proposal. The media can play a role in poverty reduction given its power to influence the masses and shape public opinion; c) Gender and Communication – Gender inequalities in participation in and access to media limit their potential to become inclusive, democratic spaces; d) Pathways to Digital Frontiers – Today’s communications landscape includes the increasing influence of the Internet and social media, the emergence of mobile phones and other integrated communication devices. What is Health Partnership? A health partnership is an on-going ‘twinning’ or ‘linking’ arrangement between counterpart health institutions in high-income settings and developing countries. The partnerships’ primary aim is to share knowledge and information to train health workers and improve health services. The Tropical Health and Educational Trust (THET) in association with UKAID is seeking applications for a health partnership scheme to help improve Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures in low and middle income countries. It will strengthen the capacity of the overseas country’s health services to cope with future outbreak and emergency situations associated with highly infectious diseases alongside the effective delivery of essential day-to-day health services. Eligibility Criteria: 1) All established health partnerships; 2) Projects must be operating within low- or middle-income countries; 3) Letters of support from each institution must be submitted along with the application; 4) Projects must adhere to the guidelines and syllabus structure as set out in the THET and WHO Project Framework for Strengthening Preventative Capacity Projects. The Vice Presidency for Countries (VPC) with support from the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF), members of the IDB Group, and the platform NEXSO is seeking innovative solutions that contribute to solving development challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean. CSIS, led by the Vice Presidency for Countries, is an online contest designed to identify and connect with the Bank and others, the work being undertaken by civil society. The aim is to meet organizations implementing or proposing innovative solutions regarding development challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean identified by the Bank. Who can participate? Those organizations eligible to apply must belong to the Civil Society of one or more of the member countries of the IDB Group and its projects must respond with innovative solutions to the challenges that will be proposed. These solutions have to be applied in Latin America and the Caribbean.

> WHO: IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF SERVICES PROVIDED TO SURVIVORS OF GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE According to global estimates, more than one-third of all women experience either intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime. Research in Afghanistan shows that more than 80% of women experience at least one form of domestic violence and over 60% of women experience multiple forms of violence. World Health Organization (WHO) has a critical role in supporting Member States to strengthen gealth systems’ primary and secondary response to gender-based violence. WHO Afghanistan Country Office in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan (MoPH) is seeking proposals from organizations for improving the quality of services provided to survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) by conducting training workshops on the GBV Treatment Protocol and provide on-the-job training, mentoring and support for healthcare providers and health facility managers. The duration of the program will be 2 years. During these two years, 141 workshops with around 20-25 participants in each will be organized for healthcare providers from different levels of health facilities in the provinces. Objectives: 1) Strengthen the capacity and skills of healthcare providers to provide good quality care to GBV survivors in Afghanistan according to the MoPH/WHO GBV Treatment Protocol in seven provinces in Afghanistan over two years; 2) Supervise and monitor healthcare providers’ and health facilities’ performance in providing good quality services to GBV survivors in order to strengthen capacity building activities and report back to WHO/MoPH; 3) Provide on-the-job training, mentoring and support to healthcare providers and health managers on managing GBV cases to enable the organization and provision of better-quality care. The European Union represented by the European Commission is inviting call for proposals for enhancing Civil Society Participation in South Sudan’s public policies and programs as a pre-condition for a more equitable, open and democratic society. The program is divided into two lots: Lot 1: Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) as partners in promoting social development; Lot 2: CSOs as stakeholders in promoting inclusive and sustainable growth. Objectives of the Program: a) To enhance social development of the population by improving access to quality social services through CSO’s initiatives providing conflict sensitive education for children and youth that have missed out formal education/not joined formal education; b) To increase employability and income generation opportunities for young women and men through CSOs initiatives providing skills development and access to productive resources. > EU-LEBANON CULTURAL ACTIVITIES 2015 PROGRAMME The specific objective of this Call for Proposals is the promotion of mutual understanding and rapprochement between peoples through cultural and artistic exchanges. The actions should aim at promoting intercultural understanding and dialogue through any artistic or cultural activity (including for educational purposes): music, literature, performing arts (theatre, dance, etc.), visual arts (sculpture, painting, etc.), audio-visual arts (cinem a, television, radio, digital and media arts, video art, etc.), photography, reading, storytelling, comics, etc. Actions must take place in Lebanon, ideally in more than one area. The initial planned duration of an action may not exceed 12 months. The Conquer Cancer Foundation together with ASCO International is currently accepting concept notes (short proposals) from organizations working in low and middle income countries for its International Innovation Grants. The foundation seeks to create a world free from the fear of cancer by funding breakthrough research, by sharing knowledge with physicians and patients worldwide, and by supporting initiatives to ensure that all people have access to high-quality cancer care. One-year research grant will be awarded and paid directly to a nonprofit organization or governmental agency in a low-income or middle-income country. The grant may be used by the organization only for the approved, budgeted costs of the research project. Each grant will have a Principal Investigator who is an ASCO member, is affiliated with the Grantee Organization, and is a resident of the low-income or middle-income country. Thematic Areas - Applicants are encouraged to be innovative in their research proposal. Proposed research projects could include, but are not limited to: a) Health services and delivery research (including use of telemedicine); b) Research on effective strategies for cancer prevention; c) Epidemiologic research; d) Pharmaco-economic research; e) Standard treatment outcome research and therapeutic trials investigating affordable treatment regimens; f) Research on delivery of palliative care; g) New models of clinical training or workforce utilization; h) Research on clinical infrastructure (impact of improved equipment or supplies). Applicant Organizations must: 1) be an organization with a charitable purpose registered as a not-for-profit with the relevant national authority or must be a government agency; 2) located in a country categorized by the World Bank as Low-Income, Lower-Middle Income or Upper-Middle Income; 3) have been operating for at least one full year, have an acceptable management structure and processes in place, and be solvent with or without the support of this Grant; 4) have experience in carrying out activities with tangible outcomes.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Vienna is accepting proposals to create an exchange program to foster entrepreneurship, leadership, and professional skills of young Austrians with a demonstrated interest in an entrepreneurial future while exposing them to American culture and values. This course, which will focus on the entrepreneurial ecosystem of a particular U.S. city or region will last two to three weeks, taking place between July 5-Sep 30, 2016. Participants could travel to the U.S. in one to three cohorts. In addition to developing participants’ knowledge and skills, the program exposes participants to American culture and values. As this will be a cooperative agreement, U.S. Embassy Vienna will have substantial involvement in this effort including  participant selection, approval of the program structure and content in the United States. The Foundation supports groups, projects, or organizations working towards progressive social change which are led by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI) communities and directly address oppression based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity/expression. The Foundation strengthens LGBTQI groups by providing flexible general support grants. Eligibility Information – Applicants must be: 1) Groups based in Africa, Asia/the Pacific, Eastern Europe/Commonwealth of Independent States, Latin America/the Caribbean, or the Middle East; 2) Groups led by and/or for LGBTQI communities are eligible. SOSF is committed to protecting our oceans by funding research, conservation and educational projects that focus on the major threats to the marine environment. SOSF’s particular interest is in charismatic marine megafauna, notably sharks, rays and skates. Aimed at original and innovative start-up projects, the grant presents early career scientists, conservationists or educators with an opportunity to prove themselves. It targets local projects conducted by local project leaders. Whether or not the project is part of a larger project, SOSF Small Grants are for specific and finite projects. Eligibility Criteria: 1) Early career scientists (Having five years of a degree) Conservationists, Educators; 2) Projects should include at least two of these three components-research, conservation and educational projects on sharks, rays and skates; 3) Local projects conducted by local project leaders are encouraged; 4) Applicant must have the knowledge of English Language; 5) The application form is to be filled via online mode only; 6) Only one application will be accepted from one applicant.

The GJC is the international competition that rewards the innovative use of technology for the education of 21st century and the social inclusion. Promoted by the Municipality of Rome the GJC is hosted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale under the High Patronage of the Italian Presidency and the sponsorship of the Italian Foreign Affairs Minister. The GJC is a unique opportunity to reflect on the importance of the challenges posed by 21st century education and the role of technology in didactic innovation, social innovation, development and the reduction of world poverty. The Challenge is a unique opportunity for teachers and students to reflect on the significance of digital literacy, whilst exposing them with to the vast range of high quality solutions proposed by other youth from around the world. The Challenge rewards projects in all fields of youth education, not only those addressed at schools. The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (“The Global Fund”) is seeking proposals from qualified suppliers to provide Occupational Health and Wellbeing Advisory Services to its workforce of around 700 staff made up of over 105 nationalities. The selected occupational health and wellbeing advisor will be required to function at both the operational as well as the strategic level. A two stage procedure will be utilized in evaluating the proposals, with evaluation of the technical proposal being completed prior to any cost proposal being considered. A cost evaluation is only undertaken for technical submissions that score above the minimum. The proposal should be concisely presented and structured, and should explain in detail your availability, ability, capacity and resources to provide the requested services. The cost component must cover all the services requested in the scope of work outlined in the concept paper and must be in Swiss Francs. The cost tables and accompanying notes must show the composition of all cost elements, including fees and profits. Suppliers are solely responsible for their own expenses, if any, in preparing and submitting an offer to this Request for Proposal. This would include any costs incurred during functional demonstrations and subsequent meetings and negotiations.

The Alliance for a Green Revolution (AGRA) in Africa is seeking proposals from organizations to significantly and sustainably improve the productivity and incomes of poor, small-scale farmers in Africa. The PASS is an AGRA initiative to improve food security and reduce poverty in Africa by promoting the development of seed delivery systems that allow small-scale farmers to gain access to improved, adapted crop varieties in an equitable and sustainable manner. PASS operates through four integrated sub-programs across the seed value chain. It begins with educating a new generation of plant breeders and seed specialists and ends with improved seed on the shelves of village-level agro dealers. PASS sub-programs are: a) Education for African Crop Improvement (EACI); b) Fund For The Improvement and Adoption of African Crops (FIACC); c) Seed Production for Africa (SEPA); d) Agro Dealer Development Program (ADP). AGRA aims at investing in projects that can have measurable impact and can create meaningful, transformative change in the agriculture sector. Focus Areas: (i) production and distribution of certified seed; (ii) adapted crop varieties among poor; (iii) condition of farmer through both private and public channels. Eligible Countries:  Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique, Ghana, Nigeria, Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso.

The Elevate Children Funders Group (ECFG) was founded in 2011 by a group of private foundations working collectively in order to make key challenges facing children and youth a more significant global priority. With a focus on violence against children and alternative care/family strengthening, the group works at both international and national levels to build a stronger evidence base, strengthen advocates’ leadership and communication efforts, and mobilize more resources to support proven interventions. The purpose of the Post 2015 Advocacy Fund is to support advocacy and communications related to the Post 2015 Development Agenda, with the goal of securing the strongest possible language relating to VaC in the final documents. Priorities: a) Monitor patterns of children’s rights violations globally; b) Advocate for change by initiating policy discussions, and challenging violations of children’s rights through campaigns and legal advocacy; c) Engage relevant professionals in the work and document processes, experience and expertise for others to be able to replicate. Eligibility Criteria: 1) Non-governmental and intergovernmental organizations who are actively engaged in advocacy activities in support of the Post 2015 Development Agenda.
