Hello everyone! I am new to the leadership group and would like to introduce myself. My name is Julie and I live in Portland, Oregon. I am interested in women's empowerment and social entrepreneurship. I've recently discovered that there is an organization called Young Women Social Entrepreneurs who had an active chapter in Portland a few years ago. As the chapter is no longer active here, I am looking to reinstate the board. I've never started a non-profit board before and am looking for any advice or suggestions you may have.

Hey Julie!!

Welcome to the Leadership Group! I know with your experiences at WACO you'll be able to contribute to the group is such a positive way. I am excited about your work about reinstating the Young Women Social Entrepreneur group and I look forward to hearing about your progress. If you have the time and money I would definatly recommendation take a coures at PSU called Intro to Nonprofit Management (PA 520) with Dennis Morrow. It is a great foundational class to learn about creating a nonprofit and tips on management. Another great source is the Bible to NP's in Oregon with the Nonprofit Association of Oregon Handbook - it is a go to for everything!

Welcome to the Leadership group!!

Sincerely, Alyssa Rust

Dear Julie,

I am happy to welcome you to the leadership group. It's impressive that you are committed to reinsating the board of YWSE, and I cannnot but wish you great success. I hope too that Alyssa's recommendations will serve your need. Same for Leana's.

Please feel free to reach out with any specific questions you may have on what it takes to start a Board, as I have some ideas based on my experience as founder of a grassroots Non Profit Organization in Nigeria. You are assured of our group's support all the way. Keep keeping on, don't stop!

Thank you everyone! The hardest challenge has been finding interest from other people to be a part of the board. Leana, I will contact you directly for the names of the women you know. Alyssa, the class at PSU looks very interesting. I know PCC has one as well that I've been looking to attend. I'm also planning a meetup group to see if I can find any interest there.

Hello Julie, Great to meet you here and read about your plans. Sometimes it can take awhile to find others ready for the same plan. I'm sure they will gravitate to you. Glad to know you are there. I hope you are feeling surrounded by kindred spirits here!

Hi Julie,I'm glad to have you in this Leadership Group!.I appreciate your interest  to reinstate the board of the Young Women Social Entrepreneurs.I wish you good luck in all your efforts
