The Power of Imagination.

It is very easy to imagine something into being and go right through with establishing it. Similarly dreams disappear when we fail to believe in our own strength in making them come true. In high school, i used to play soccer for the senior team when i was just in form 1. I doubt it had anything to do with talent, but a drive towards making it into that team; against a background where i felt i could do anything. My untainted victory was cut short when i was selected for national under16 Girls soccer team trials. My coach decided not to inform me about this selection, for his own reasons. When i found out quite by accident, i was upset and the very next term quit soccer deciding to focus on another sport.

I was tall enough to make the basketball team by the time i turned 14. My class mates and friends encouraged me and told me i would pretty easily make the Under 16 National Basketball team. It however took me 4 years; at least 5 provincial team trials and 4 national team tryouts before it finally made the Under 20 Zimbabwe national team, that made it to the Southern African zonal games in Maputo Mozambique, 2007. I was selected on the basis of potential, not because the selectors thought i was an extraordinary player. It took a lot of drive on my part to keep up with the others. I was the oldest kid in that team, and this was my first national team cap. My dream though of five years before, came true then, and ranf true for at least three more. I played for the senior women’s national team as its youngest player for a while. I had believed i would make it. Once i did the rest was history!

Go girl! I am just thrilled that you are such a sports lady. I was so bad at sports. I celebrate your fulfilled dreams and I trust that you have so much more ahead of you. Great one!

Warm regards,

I love when folks on World Pulse share their secret (and not so secret) super powers! How amazing that you were an international caliber athlete in two sports! You are clearly a renaissance woman! I'm not much of an athlete, but I am a huge fan, especially of women's soccer. I was excited to see Zimbabwe women qualify for the Olympics. I'll be rooting for the Mighty Warriors along with the US women this summer!

Hi there Kim

Thank you on behalf of my fellow country women. This is something i was also excited about and glad to know that there are people out there rooting for the team. it means a lot. Oh ,Worlpulse has a way of getting you to speak about things long forgotten and celebrate the small victories that make us who we are, and that build to bigger futures and visions. Glad to be a part of this network :)

Thanks again
