Irreversible Change

Education increases the value of girls. Each step ahead in school is a better future.
I was 14 when I was a barmaid; selling alcohol day and night in my rural village. I did this to raise money to continue with my education, after a whole year of struggle and risking my life to hungry old men, this was not fruitful at all.
I decided to return home; together with my mother struggled through agriculture and brewing alcohol to raise funds that pushed me through Ordinary Level of Education in the year 2000.

I could not afford Advanced level, there was just no way forward, so I had to stay home for another two years not until I came in contact with an American woman who accepted to educate me with the help of her family and friends.
Rebecca, her husband Jim and her Sister Shelby worked hard and harder to push me through the university until I graduated with a bachelor in Information Technology.

Today I have a fair job with Build Africa. I did not stop at my job, I am giving back to my community; I am supporting 66 rural girls and 1 boy in secondary schools https://www.facebook.com/RGCMUganda by connecting them with women and men around the globe who educate and mentor them through my grassroot project Rural Girl Child Mentorship (RGCM Uganda). I also have a young NGO - Pearl Community Empowerment Foundation (PCE Foundation), a grassroots national development NGO is registered in Uganda, currently operating in rural communities of Tororo and Buteleja districts, Eastern Uganda, supporting and working with the grassroots pupulation.
This is only the beginning for a young woman desperate for change. It is unbelievable that in the 30 years I have lived in this world, I have lived happier for less than 4 years, the rest were years of HARD struggles to make a better future.

I appeal to every girl out there to never give up, I appeal to a struggling mother and father not to sell their daughters into marriage. Please hung on there for 4 to 7 years while struggling to raise money or looking for opportunities for your daughters left and right.
After you have read this journal, I request you to print and share it with a family in grassroots, struggling and wanting to give up. Tell them not to sell of their daughters but struggle to improve the lives of their daughters by educating them beyond the primary education (free in many countries today).
It is very true that education brings irreversible change. That of a girl should not be under estimated.
