Celebrating Women in STEM

Many times, women's achievements are downplayed and this is not different in STEM. Many of us are familiar with the movie Hidden Figures. For those who are not, Hidden Figures tells the incredible untold story of Katherine Jonson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson; all brilliant African-American women who worked at NASA and served as the brains behind the launch into orbit of astronaut John Glenn. An achievement that turned around the Space Race and has inspired lots of women in STEM.

Thinking about this, made me launch #InspireITdidyouknowseries.

#InspireITdidyouknowseries is focused on highlighting female scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians from around the world whose work has been foundational to STEM.

We will be celebrating their achievements.

This will also encourage young girls interested in pursuing STEM careers.

#InspireITdidyouknowseries was launched online on August 20, 2018.

You can find #InspireITdidyouknowseries on Facebook and Twitter.

Do you know any woman whose work has been very important to the development of STEM whether from your country or another country? We're happy to highlight their work and celebrate their achievement(s).
