ABout Me

I am an American woman who has had a very fortunate life, not without trials, failures and sadness but definitely fortunate. I have had freedom, education, food, and shelter for my entire life. I have been a stay at home mom for over 14yrs. Although I believe raising your children is the most important job a woman can do, I also believe all are not so lucky to be able to do this.
Im involved in many charities, presently I'm the chairperson for the annual Walk For Darfur in Los Angeles. We are hoping to have 3000ppl seen and heard to creat awareness and funds to help with the genocide in Darfur. Growing up as a Jewish person I was told never to stand idly by.
I also have been involved in counseling women and teens at a non profit center. My most rewarding volunteer work was as a rape crisis counselor. The first person that a victim saw after their attack was me. I didn't say much, but my arms around them said enough.
Most recently I traveled to India with a group that gives grants to NGO's who are trying to make a difference in the life of many people. I met Muslim woman who are fighting years and years of a male dominated society. They are learning they have rights and are strong beautiful woman. I met children who are homeless and are learning to write and read on the train platforms where they work begging.
These people are amazing individuals who want to see change . Before India I traveled to Africa, where again I saw woman who started micro crediting in their village. I met women who convinced their tribal leader to abolish female genital mutilation.
So as I lay my head down to sleep at night, I can't stop thinking of how I need to make a difference.....one person at a time. I hope PulseWire will put me in touch with others who together can make a difference....one person at a time.
