Introducing myself and my journal: Feminine Leadership

About Me:
I am the author of the debut novel, The Seven Perfumes of Sacrifice, for which I did a decade of research on the origins of honor killing in the Middle East. I wove my theory into the plot of my story, which Kirkus Reviews called a "thrilling debut novel", "an intelligent, intricately layered adventure". It's a post-9/11 cautionary tale of an American struggling to "civilize" a Druze village of Israel and how her intercession leads to tragedy beyond anyone's calculation and revelations that could heal what seems hopeless. Seven Perfumes was published March 8, 2012, International Women's Day, and I am giving 10% of my book's proceeds to the Global Fund for Women. For more info on my novel, visit www.amylogan.com

My writing and/or photography has been published in The New York Times Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, The Dallas Morning News, The Denver Post, Vegetarian Times, Natural Solutions magazine and many others. I worked on staff at several newspapers and magazines, published health care industry journals, and wrote a nationally syndicated travel column with a million readers for Tribune Media Services’ College Press Service, a syndicate of The Chicago Tribune. I contributed an essay to the 2008 anthology Mothering Heights’ Manual for Motherhood, Vol. 1 (Mothering Heights’ Press), which became an Amazon #1 best-seller in the Motherhood category. I have studied creative writing with Booker Prize finalist Arnost Lustig, Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Henry Taylor and National Book Award finalist Andre Dubus III and attended the 2006 and 2008 Squaw Valley Fiction Writers Workshops.

I am the Director of Public Relations for The Coaches Training Institute (www.coactive.com), the oldest and largest coach training school in the world. I am also a PR consultant, writer, ghostwriter, editor and Co-Active Coach who coaches emerging leaders who want to make a difference for the greater good.

I am the proud mother of a wonderful 10-year-old son, who is the kind of man this world needs more of!

My Passions:
women's issues, dancing, world travel, empowering people, behavioral change, organic food, mythology, neuroscience, writing, reading, loving the world through its challenges

My Challenges:
I'm a single mom working full-time plus promoting my debut novel that I hope will make a difference for the millions of women living in the Honor Violence Zone.

My Vision for the Future:
A world in balance of the feminine and masculine energies that are both needed for harmony.

My Areas of Expertise:
Writing, editing, honor violence, fiction, public relations. I know a lot about the Druze, Arabs, Israel and marketing, but I wouldn't call myself an "expert".
