Back To Bhaarath

August 1969 - November 1970 : Last week of August 1969 I am in ST.Pancras London Rail Station ready to board British Rail bound for Nottingham in The Midlands of England north of London. I am on my way to take up my new assignment as Registrar , Department of General Surgery , Nottingham General Hospital which was founded in 1782 . My tenure is to last till the end of 1970 beginning First of September 1969 . But my leave of absence from Government Medical Service in India expires by that time and I accepted the appointment up to end of November 1970 having decided to honor my commitment to return to Bhaarath and assure relatives who signed as sureties vouchsafing that I would return back . Anyway let me not digress , I am happy having made a decision as I arrived in Nottingham on a bright sunny day and proceeded to Department of Surgery , Nottingham General Hospital , to report to my consultant Mister Sheehan FRCS who selected me for the post of Surgical Registrar . He is a very amicable Irish gentleman . The Department provided me accommodation in a single bedroom flat above a grocery shop with a separate entrance from a side alley . I have been introduced to the staff in the hospital mess where for the duration of my assignment my nutritional requirements will be looked after . During this last phase of my Surgical sojourn in England I was very happy , did a good amount of satisfactory surgical procedures . At times MR Sheehan , when going on leave put me in charge of his patients which was gratifying and a healthy sign of confidence reposed in me . As I was nearing the end of my tenure in November 1970 Mr Sheehan was very concerned about me and offred to accommodate me further , but I thanked him , explained the obligation under which I came to England and he understood , but disappointed to let me go . It is better to leave when people are sorry to see me go , rather than hang on till I may not be welcome . So I will be back with all of you in Bhaarath ( India ) and would you all be happy to welcome me back - I will see you soon - krishna
