Consequences of the War in the DRC: The Case of North Kivu Province and Goma and the M23

Today I shall tell you a story from our friends in North Kivu, who suffer each day from the war in progress. M23 had on day asked the people in the area to resume their daily activities. Once after the people took up their activities, M23 began to pillage, to rape, and to kill… How does a human being come to mistreat another to such degree? And why are women always the victims? Aren’t they created just like everyone else? Or perhaps the rebels have seen that is only on the body of the woman that war would still be okay. You know that war has always had many consequences and causes, but our subject focuses on the war in the DRC, specifically in North Kivu and Goma where the people are suffering a lot.
Some of the consequences, among others, are:
• Lack of peace and safety in the province
• Large number of wounded
• Death
• Massive displacement and the population becomes refugees
• Poor education for children
• All sorts of violence
• Plundering of economic and financial wealth in the province
• Poverty
• Populating reduced to beggars and migration to neighboring provinces
• Instability of the population
• Malnutrition
• Conflict
• Lack of development in the province
• Destruction of the earth
I believe that with these images you will be able to see how are friends in North Kivu are treated by armed groups, and how they are suffering, some with their children on their backs with no hope. “One must stop a hemorrhage instead of waiting to cure a plague.”
