We are delighted to take part in this 16-day activity for community activists, because it provides a safe space where our voices can reach everyone. In the Congo, we still face so many difficulties because here, our technology is not as advanced as in other countries. Another problem we face is the culture that prevents women from reporting rape, though we know very well that the best way to put and end to sexual harassment and rape is through voluntary reporting. That is why here at the MAMA SHUJAA centre, the first step is to teach women to read and write and to inform them about their rights and how to claim them. A Congolese woman may know that she has the right to an education, for example, yet her parents force her to stay at home to tend to the children or to go work in the fields. But saying 'no' to one's parents is a whole other issue, and you will find that many women are not offered administrative roles due to their lack of schooling. Therefore, new technology is part of the solution, to which we must add 'Raising of Awareness', taking charge and reinforcing this through the creation of 'Community Radio Stations' everywhere to end violent acts once and for all. TECHNOLOGY: ANOTHER STEP TOWARDS WOMEN'S STABILITY.
