MY JOURNEY

I am Arrey- Echi. I come from Cameroon, a native from Manyu in the South West Region. It is a place noted for producing the best oranges and coconuts in the country with a humid like climate. I come from a large family of six siblings and my parents and ours is a very close knit community of uncles, aunts and cousins. My biggest challenge right now is creating awareness and changing mindsets of people concerning Sickle cell disease sufferers in my community which prompted me to start a blog www.joy2endure.com. a few months ago. Women suffering from this condition face alot of challenges including dealing with societal ignorance which makes attaining life dreams difficult for some. Using the blog as a platform is already changing mindsets and helping people see sufferers, especially women differently.

My wish is to one day make this a national awareness platform and if possible, team with others to bring it to the fore. Right now, family and friends who believe in me are my biggest supporters. Finances is always an issue on something like mine with little government backing. For now, my writing skills are being put to good use towards achieving this goal.

It is simple. I am a determined young woman who is fighting against many odds to help not only herself but many more people to also face their situation with the same quiet determination that has seen me through.
