Do you know who SHE is?

This was written for a Femicide art exhibit in March of 2009. Things have not changed, only are getting worse. Women are beaten, raped, killed and maimed just because they are women and thought of less, without value, not worthy. These women could be any one of us or our family members at any time. My Mission is to bring all women together for us to educate and make the world aware of the value and importance of women to this earth.

Do you know who SHE is?

Her footprints are covered in red blood
her knees are covered in scrapes that will never heal
her fingernails
carry the DNA of her murderer
that will never be found

The screams scrape against the crisp air
then shatter into a thousand shards of silence
as they cut through the earths surface
and bring tears to Mother Earth

DO you know who SHE is?

The wind passes her by
brushing her hair
dusting her face
as she lay still

The cries are captured by ghostly dust devils
that dance across the dessert floor
then are plucked in mid step
by throny scrub brushes
and ripped into shreds
as they go unanswered
