SEXUAL VIOLENCE

Women and children in Kenya are being sexually abused, and this is taken as if it is normal.
Even after getting a new constitution that is very clear on sexual violence, women and the girl children are still suffering.
Most rape and defilement cases are not reported because of fear, tradition, religion and most women at grassroots level have no information of what to do. The police stations lack gender desks hence not friendly to women and children. The court process when seeking legal redress is so slow, expensive and corrupt leaving women and children unattended and unable to afford such services. The hospitals are expensive, with most of the time lacking medicine.
Most cases are incest, sodomy and gang rape. For the girl child, the dignity and safety is in danger, the girl child is not safe on the way from school, at the market and even in the community at large. As young as 3 years aged girl cases are reported.
This has led me to blow the whistle, raise voices of women and children in my community and the entire world.
