WOMEN AND INHERITANCE IN KENYA

Women in Kenya are having it rough.
A woman is not entitled to own property for example land. Even if one is able to purchase, it should be under a mans name.
Cultural beliefs are against a woman owning property. That if a woman owns property, she will feel big, she will not be submissive to her husband and the list is just long. This has lead to women getting poor and poor in the name of issues that can be ignored.
This affects every woman, rural and the urban.
The worst is when a womans husband passes on, the relatives of the husband come in even before the burial and all what has high value is taken away from the widow not even caring for the children.
When a farther is distributing property like land, the girl child is discriminated, i mean she is not given any share.
The woman has no identity, she is seen like the other.
