Dear Kenyan PulseWire member,

Hello from World Pulse and the PulseWire community! In February, 2011, World Pulse will travel to Kenya and Rwanda with American feminist leaders in friendship to meet women’s rights leaders, visit innovative projects, and discuss national progress for women there. Our “Heart of East Africa” tour of Kenya takes place Feb. 7- Feb. 12.

World Pulse is honored to be working with EOS tours, Half Sky Journeys and our co-host organization, the Center for Women's Rights Advancement and Education (CREAW).

During our visit, we'd very much like to meet our PulseWire community members in person in Nairobi! As a local Kenyan member of PulseWire, we are reaching out to invite you to join us for a “meet and greet” coffee social – and to meet one other.

This event is being hosted by our local Kenyan 'Voices of the Future ' correspondent, Leah Okeyo.

Date: Thursday, Feb. 3 Time: 6 pm – 8:00 pm (Tea, coffee, and snacks available for purchase at Java.) Location: Nairobi Java House - Downtown branch Mama Ngina Street (Opposite 20th Century & International Light House buildings) Web address: http://nairobijavahouse.com (Tel) +254 (20) 313564/5.

This event is being coordinated by our Kenyan 'Voices of the Future ' correspondent Leah Okeyo and award-winning journalist Anne-christine d’Adesky. For any questions, please email Leah. RSVP below.

On behalf of World Pulse and our Heart of East Africa tour, I hope you can join us! We very much look forward to meeting our Kenyan colleagues in February. Asante Sana!

Dear Leah, AC, Jensine, Zoneziwoh, Ann, and All,

Fantastic news, and wish I was going to be able to attend. Will certainly be with all of you in spirit!

And small world: right now, Leah and I are working on the "Blogging Positively" project sponsored by Rising Voices, the outreach arm of Global Voices Online (http://rising.globalvoicesonline.org). I wrote a Blogging Positively e-guide last year, focusing on blogging and other citizen media to address HIV/AIDS. Zoneziwoh and Leah have been participants.

Ann I know via the networking I do in a number of Kenya-related forums, and AC and Jensine I know from our Haitian solidarity project called PotoFanm+Fi, whose fiscal sponsor is World Pulse. AC, you might be interested in the Blogging Positively project, given your work in the HIV/AIDS field, and Jensine, I'd love to talk with you about some collaboration between Rising Voices and World Pulse on the BP project (Leah, Zoneziwoh, and other WP members perhaps serving as a bridge to RV, since they are also members there).

Asante sana, and sip a few cups of java for me, "tea"-hee!! Janet
