MY CHANGEMAKING RESOURCE INVENTORY

I shall be eternally grateful for this course and the impact it has created in me.

From the Resource Map class, I find that I have been a large bundle of resource, much of which I was not even aware.

I hereby classify my resources as follows:

1. My Experiences:

My life has been characterised by so much, such that I can comfortably call myself a survivor. Much of the adaptations I have picked up in the course of my life when put together, is a whole bundle of resource. Asides my educational pursuits, I have had to acquire diverse skills in order to survive right from my teenage years, some I learnt formally, some out of necessity. These skills include: Hair Dressing, Knitting,Snacks -making, Catering services, Interior Decoration and most recently, dress making (a work in progress). I must not forget to mention my biggest passion, writing/story telling. All these put together, makeme a walking resource - machine, especially as regards my pet project ; I- FOCUS. Some of the skills we would be teaching women are things I could teach by myself without needing to employ extra hands!

2. My Friends and Family Network:

This I cannot overemphasize because, if not for a great network of friends and a solid family support base, I would have given up a long time ago. These wonderful people ensure that I keep going, they are my 'supporters club', my biggest critics as well as my silent pillars.

3. My Daughter:

This girl is not just God's biggest gift to me, she is a bundle of great encouragement. It might surprise you all to know that my daughter, as young as she is, believes in helping people and is already in love with what we do on WorldPulse. She is the one who has had to give up her room on several occasions when we've had to accomodate some indigent women/families for periods of time. She is only eight, but already has a golden heart that understands people's sufferings. I'm glad to be going on this life journey with her!

4. My Education and Writing Career:

When I see the wide berth between those of us who are educated and those who are not, and the fact that this advantage gives us an opportunity to stand up and be heard, I jump for joy!

I cannot begin to imagine what my life would have been without being able to read, write and speak in public.

I also am grateful that I get to express myself daily and drive my message home through my writing. When I read some of my works, and the feedback from my reading public, it fuels me to want to keep writing because I know that with that my voice will carry far! Millions may never get to see me, but if they read my works and are impacted, my mission is getting accomplished!

5. Social Media:

If not for social media, bodies like WorldPulse and so many other movements will not be readily available for women like me across the globe! Today, connection is just a click away, hurray!

And then there is so much impact to be made via all the social media platforms. Friends sometimes playfully accuse me of practically living on Facebook, and my response to that is: it reminds me of my humanity and the need to stay alive!

My sisters, Social Media is indeed the best thing to have happened to the developing world in this century!

6. My Mobile Devices:

Lord have mercy! What would life be right now without a phone? I tell you, put me in a desert with just my bible, my phone (fully loaded with credit and data), a power bank, a gourd of water and a blanket, I will surely survive. Because the phone ensures that I can reach out and not only raise help but equally make impact!

These all, put together, with love from each and everyone of you across borders, are resources I daily wake up to and celebrate.

I truly am grateful!
